باب مَا جَاءَ فِي مِقْدَارِ الْمَاءِ لِلْوُضُوءِ وَالْغُسْلِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ
Chapter: The quantity of water required for ablution and bathing from a state of sexual impurity
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ، قَالَتْ أَتَانِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَسَأَلَنِي عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، – تَعْنِي حَدِيثَهَا الَّذِي ذَكَرَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ تَوَضَّأَ وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ – فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّ النَّاسَ أَبَوْا إِلاَّ الْغَسْلَ وَلاَ أَجِدُ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْمَسْحَ .
It was narrated that Rubai’ said: “Ibn ‘Abbas came to me and asked me about this Hadith” meaning the Hadith, that she had narrated, saying that the Messenger of Allah performed ablution and washed his feet. “Ibn ‘Abbas said: ‘The people are insisting on washing their feet, but I do not find anything in the Qur’an except (the injunction to) wipe them.’”
