    وَعَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ – رضى الله عنه – 1 قَالَ : { كَانَ فُلَانٍ يُطِيلُ اَلْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ اَلظُّهْرِ, وَيُخَفِّفُ اَلْعَصْرَ, وَيَقْرَأُ فِي اَلْمَغْرِبِ بِقِصَارِ اَلْمُفَصَّلِ وَفِي اَلْعِشَاءِ بِوَسَطِهِ وَفِي اَلصُّبْحِ بِطُولِهِ . فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : “مَا صَلَّيْتُ وَرَاءِ أَحَدٍ أَشْبَهَ صَلَاةِ بِرَسُولِ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -مِنْ هَذَا } . أَخْرَجَهُ النَّسَائِيُّ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ 2 1 – كذا في “أ” ولا مانع من الترضي عن غير الصحابة، وإن كان بالصحابة أشهر وأعرف . 2 – صحيح رواه النسائي (2/167 و 167 – 168) ولكن تصرف الحافظ في بعض ألفاظه.

    Narrated Sulaiman bin Yasar: So-and-so used to prolong the first two Rak’a of the Zuhr prayer and shorten the ‘Asr prayer, and recite the short Surah of Mufassal at Maghrib prayer, its medium Surah at the ‘Isha’ prayer, and its long ones at the Fajr prayer. Then Abu Hurairah (RA) said: “I never prayed behind anyone whose prayer more closely resembles that of Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) than this person.” [Reported by an-Nasa’i with a Sahih (authentic) Isnad].

    وَعَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ : { سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَقْرَأُ فِي اَلْمَغْرِبِ بِالطُّورِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ . 1 1 – صحيح . رواه البخاري (765) ، ومسلم (463) .

    Narrated Jubair bin Mut’im (RA): I heard Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) reciting at-Tur (the Mountain – Surat No. 52) in the Maghrib (sunset) prayer. [Agreed upon).

    وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ : { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ اَلْفَجْرِ يَوْمَ اَلْجُمْعَةِ : (الم تَنْزِيلُ ) اَلسَّجْدَةَ , و (هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى اَلْإِنْسَانِ) } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1 1 – صحيح . رواه البخاري (891) ، ومسلم (880) واللفظ للبخاري .

    Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to recite during the Fajr prayer of Friday Alif-Lam-Mim, Tanzil… (as-Sajdab – Surat no. 32) and Hal ata ‘alal-Insani… (al-Insan – Surat no. 76), which is also called Surat ad-Dahr). [Agreed upon].

    وَلِلطَّبَرَانِيِّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ اِبْنِ مَسْعُودٍ : { يُدِيمُ ذَلِكَ } 1 1 – ضعيف . رواه الطبراني في “الصغير” (986) بسند ضعيف ، وله علة أخرى أبان أبو حاتم عنها في “العلل” (1/204/586) .

    at-Tabarani narrated the Hadith of Ibn Mas’ud which has the addition “… he [the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)] did that constantly.”

    وَعَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ : { صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ اَلنَّبِيِّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَمَا مَرَّتْ بِهِ آيَةُ رَحْمَةٍ إِلَّا وَقَفَ عِنْدَهَا يَسْأَلُ, وَلَا آيَةُ عَذَابٍ إِلَّا تَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ , وَحَسَّنَهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ 1 1 – صحيح . رواه أبو داود (871) ، والنسائي (3/225 – 226) ، والترمذي (262) ، وابن ماجه (1351) ، وأحمد (5/382) ، وأوله : “صليت مع النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ، فكان يقول في ركوعه : سبحان ربي العظيم . وفي سجوده سبحان ربي الأعلى ، وما مر آية رحمة . . . الحديث. وزاد ابن ماجه : ” وإذا مر بآية فيها تنزيه لله سبح” . وأما لفظ النسائي : قال حذيفة : “صليت مع النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ليلة فافتتح البقرة ، فقلت : يركع عند المائة فمضى ، فقلت : يركع عند المائتين فمضى ، فقلت : يصلي بها في ركعة ، فمضى . فافتتح النساء فقرأها ثم افتتح آل عمران ، فقرأها ، يقرأ مترسلا ، إذا مر بآية فيها تسبيح سبح ، وإذا مر بسؤال سأل ، وإذا مر بتعوذ تعوذ ، ثم ركع ، فقال : سبحان ربي العظيم ، وكان ركوعه نحوا من قيامه ، ثم رفع رأسه ، فقال: سمع الله لمن حمده ، فكان قيامه قريبا من ركوعه ، ثم سجد فجعل يقول : سبحان ربي الأعلى فكان سجوده قريبا من ركوعه . قلت : وبنحو لفظ النسائي رواه مسلم في “صحيحه” (772) .

    Narrated Hudhaifah (RA): I prayed with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and (noticed that) whenever he came to a verse which spoke of mercy, he stopped and made supplication, and whenever he came to a verse which spoke of punishment, he stopped and sought refuge in Allah against it.” [Reported by Al-Khamsah, and at-Tirmidhi graded it Hasan (good)].

    وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ أَلَا وَإِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ اَلْقُرْآنَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا , فَأَمَّا اَلرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا فِيهِ اَلرَّبَّ , وَأَمَّا اَلسُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي اَلدُّعَاءِ , فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1 1 – صحيح 0 رواه مسلم (479) من طريق عبد الله بن معبد ، عن ابن عباس قال : كشف رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- الستارة ، والناس صفوف خلف أبي بكر ، فقال : “أيها الناس ! إنه لم يبق من مبشرات النبوة إلا الرؤيا الصالحة يراها المسلم ، أو ترى له ، ألا وإني . . . الحديث . وقمن : بفتح الميم وكسرها ، جدير وحقيق .

    Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas (RA): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “I have been forbidden to recite the Qur’an while bowing or prostrating; so while in the bowing (position) glorify (the Perfection of) the Rabb (Lord), and while in the prostrating (position) be earnest in supplication, for it is fitting that your supplications may be answered.” [Reported by Muslim].

    وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ -رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا- قَالَتْ : { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَقُولُ: فِي رُكُوعِهِ وَسُجُودِهِ : “سُبْحَانَكَ اَللَّهُمَّ]رَبَّنَا] 1 وَبِحَمْدِكَ , اَللَّهُمَّ اِغْفِرْ لِي } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 2 1 – سقطت من الأصلين ، واستدركتها من “الصحيحين” وهي مثبتة في المطبوع من البلوغ وشرحه. 2 – صحيح . رواه البخاري (817) ، ومسلم (484) ، وزاد “يتأول القرآن” . قلت: إشارة إلى قوله تعالى : (فسبح بحمد ربك واستغفره إنه كان توبا) كما في رواية مسلم .

    Narrated ‘Aishah (RA): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to say while bowing and prostrating Subhanaka Allahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika, Allahumma ighfir li (How Perfect You are, O Allah, Our Rabb, and praise is to You, O Allah, forgive me).” [Agreed upon].

    وَفِي أُخْرَى لِابْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ : { كَانُوا يُسِرُّونَ } . 1 1 – ابن خزيمة (498) ، بسند ضعيف ؛ أن رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- كان يسر ببسم الله الرحمن الرحيم في الصلاة ، وأبو بكر ، وعمر .

    And in another report from Ibn Khuzaimah: “They used to recite Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim silently.”

    وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ –رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُ– قَالَ : { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى اَلصَّلَاةِ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَقُومُ , ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَرْكَعُ , ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : “سَمِعَ اَللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ” حِينَ يَرْفَعُ صُلْبَهُ مِنْ اَلرُّكُوعِ , ثُمَّ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ : “رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ اَلْحَمْدُ” ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَهْوِي سَاجِدًا , ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ, ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَسْجُدُ 1 ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَرْفَعُ , ثُمَّ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي اَلصَّلَاةِ كُلِّهَا , وَيُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَقُومُ مِنْ اِثْنَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ اَلْجُلُوسِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ . 2 1 – تحرف في ” أ ” إلى ” يجلس ” . 2 – صحيح . رواه البخاري (789) ، ومسلم (392) .

    Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): When Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) got up to pray, he would say the Takbir when standing up, then would say the Takbir when bowing, then he would say Sami’Allahu liman hamidah (Allah listens to him who praises Him) when rising up from the bowing position, then he would say while standing Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (our Rabb, the praise is Yours), then he would say the Takbir when going down for prostration, then when raising his head up, then when he prostrated again, then when raising his head up. He would then do that throughout the whole Salat (prayer) and he would say the Takbir when he got up – at the end of two Rak’a – from the sitting position.” [Agreed upon].

    وَعَلَى هَذَا يُحْمَلُ اَلنَّفْيُ فِي رِوَايَةِ مُسْلِمٍ , خِلَافًا لِمَنْ أَعَلَّهَا. 1 . 1 – قلت : نعم . ولكن بعد ثبوت رواية ابن خزيمة ، وقد تبين أنها لا تثبت ، وأما عن إعلال رواية مسلم، فقد أجاب الحافظ نفسه في “الفتح” أحسن جواب.

    The negation (of recitation of the Bismillah) in the report of Muslim can be understood in light of this report (i.e. it was recited silently), as opposed to those who declared Muslim’s report as being defective.
