    عَنْ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِوٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا; أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -قَالَ: { وَقْتُ اَلظُّهْرِ إِذَا زَالَتْ اَلشَّمْسُ, وَكَانَ ظِلُّ اَلرَّجُلِ كَطُولِهِ مَا لَمْ يَحْضُرْ اَلْعَصْرُ, وَوَقْتُ اَلْعَصْرِ مَا لَمْ تَصْفَرَّ اَلشَّمْسُ, وَوَقْتُ صَلَاةِ اَلْمَغْرِبِ مَا لَمْ يَغِبْ اَلشَّفَقُ, وَوَقْتُ صَلَاةِ اَلْعِشَاءِ إِلَى نِصْفِ اَللَّيْلِ اَلْأَوْسَطِ, وَوَقْتُ صَلَاةِ اَلصُّبْحِ مِنْ طُلُوعِ اَلْفَجْرِ مَا لَمْ تَطْلُعْ اَلشَّمْسُ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (612) (173)، وتمامه: “فإذا طلعت الشمس فأمسك عن الصلاة، فإنها تطلع بين قرني شيطان”. وله ألفاظ أخر.

    Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr (RA): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “The time of the Zuhr (noon) prayer is when the sun passes the meridian and a man’s shadow is of the same length as his height. It lasts until the time of the ‘Asr (afternoon) prayer. The time of the ‘Asr prayer is as long as the sun has not become yellow (during its setting). The time of the Maghrib (sunset) prayer is as long as the twilight has not disappeared. The time of the ‘Isha’ (night) prayer is up to midnight. And the time of the Fajr (morning) prayer is from the appearance of dawn as long as the sun has not risen; (but when the sun rises abstain from prayer; for it rises between the two horns of Satan).” [Reported by Muslim].

    وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { مِنْ اَلسُّنَّةِ أَنْ لَا يُصَلِّيَ اَلرَّجُلُ بِالتَّيَمُّمِ إِلَّا صَلَاةً وَاحِدَةً, ثُمَّ يَتَيَمَّمُ لِلصَّلَاةِ اَلْأُخْرَى } رَوَاهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ بِإِسْنَادٍ ضَعِيفٍ جِدًّ ا 1 . 1 – ضعيف جدا. رواه الدارقطني (185).

    Narrated Ibn `Abbas (RAA): It is from the Sunnah of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) for the man to pray only one prayer with each Tayammum, and then perform Tayammum for the next prayer. [Reported by Ad-Daraqutni but with a very weak chain of narrators]

    عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: { إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ كَانَتْ تُسْتَحَاضُ, فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم – “إِنَّ دَمَ اَلْحَيْضِ دَمٌ أَسْوَدُ يُعْرَفُ, فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَأَمْسِكِي مِنَ اَلصَّلَاةِ, فَإِذَا كَانَ اَلْآخَرُ فَتَوَضَّئِي, وَصَلِّي” } رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَالنَّسَائِيُّ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ حِبَّانَ, وَالْحَاكِمُ, وَاسْتَنْكَرَهُ أَبُو حَاتِم ٍ 1 . 1 – حسن. رواه أبو داود (286)، والنسائي (185)، وابن حبان (1348)، والحاكم (174) وزادوا خلا ابن حبان: “فإنما هو عرق”.

    Narrated `A’ishah (RAA): Fatima bint Abu Hubaish used to have a prolonged flow of blood (Istihadah) and so Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him)· told her, “If it is the blood of menstruation it will be dark (almost black) and recognizable (by women). If it is that, then leave the prayer. If it is other than that, then make ablution and pray.” [Reported by Abu Da’ud and An-Nasa’i. Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim graded it Sahih (sound).]

    وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ عِنْدَ أَبِي دَاوُدَ: { لِتَجْلِسْ فِي مِرْكَنٍ, فَإِذَا رَأَتْ صُفْرَةً فَوْقَ اَلْمَاءِ, فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ لِلظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ غُسْلاً وَاحِدًا, وَتَغْتَسِلْ لِلْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ غُسْلاً وَاحِدًا, وَتَغْتَسِلْ لِلْفَجْرِ غُسْلاً, وَتَتَوَضَّأْ فِيمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ } 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه أبو داود (296)، عن أسماء بنت عميس، قالت: قلت: يا رسول الله. إن فاطمة بنت أبي حبيش استحيضت منذ كذا وكذا، فلم تصل، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: “سبحان الله! هذا من الشيطان، لتجلس…” الحديث.

    In the narration of Asma bint ‘Umais, Abu Dawud transmitted, (the Prophet Peace be upon him said: ) “She should sit in a tub, and if she sees yellowness appearing (on top of the water) she should wash (three times), once for the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and once for the Maghrib and Isha prayers, and once for the Fajr prayer, and she should then perform ablution in between those times.”

    وَعَنْ حَمْنَةَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ قَالَتْ: { كُنْتُ أُسْتَحَاضُ حَيْضَةً كَبِيرَةً شَدِيدَةً, فَأَتَيْتُ اَلنَّبِيَّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -أَسْتَفْتِيهِ, فَقَالَ: “إِنَّمَا هِيَ رَكْضَةٌ مِنَ اَلشَّيْطَانِ, فَتَحَيَّضِي سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ, أَوْ سَبْعَةً, ثُمَّ اِغْتَسِلِي, فَإِذَا اسْتَنْقَأْتِ فَصَلِّي أَرْبَعَةً وَعِشْرِينَ, أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً وَعِشْرِينَ, وَصُومِي وَصَلِّي, فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ يُجْزِئُكَ, وَكَذَلِكَ فَافْعَلِي كَمَا تَحِيضُ اَلنِّسَاءُ, فَإِنْ قَوِيتِ عَلَى أَنْ تُؤَخِّرِي اَلظُّهْرَ وَتُعَجِّلِي اَلْعَصْرَ, ثُمَّ تَغْتَسِلِي حِينَ تَطْهُرِينَ وَتُصَلِّينَ اَلظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرِ جَمِيعًا, ثُمَّ تُؤَخِّرِينَ اَلْمَغْرِبَ وَتُعَجِّلِينَ اَلْعِشَاءِ, ثُمَّ تَغْتَسِلِينَ وَتَجْمَعِينَ بَيْنَ اَلصَّلَاتَيْنِ, فَافْعَلِي. وَتَغْتَسِلِينَ مَعَ اَلصُّبْحِ وَتُصَلِّينَ. قَالَ: وَهُوَ أَعْجَبُ اَلْأَمْرَيْنِ إِلَيَّ } رَوَاهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ إِلَّا النَّسَائِيَّ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ, وَحَسَّنَهُ اَلْبُخَارِيّ ُ 1 . 1 – حسن. رواه أبو داود (287)، والترمذي (128)، وابن ماجه (627)، وأحمد (6 /439).

    Narrated Hamnah bint Jahsh: ‘I had a very strong prolonged flow of blood. I went to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to ask him about it. He said, “This is a strike from Satan. So observe your menses for six or seven days, then perform Ghusl until you see that you are clean. Pray for twenty-four or twenty-three nights and days and fast, and that will suffice you. Do so every month just as the other women menstruate (and are purified). But if you are strong enough to delay the Dhuhr prayer and advance the Asr prayer, then make Ghusl when your purified and combine the Dhuhr and the Asr prayers together; then delay the Maghrib prayer and advance the Isha prayer, and perform Ghusl and combine the two prayers, do so. Do so, and then wash at dawn and pray Fajr. This is how you may pray and fast if you have the ability to do so.” And he said, “That is the more preferable way to me.” [Reported by the five imams except An- Nasa’i, At-Tirmidhi graded it Sahih (sound)]

    وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا; { أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ شَكَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -اَلدَّمَ, فَقَالَ: “اُمْكُثِي قَدْرَ مَا كَانَتْ تَحْبِسُكِ حَيْضَتُكِ, ثُمَّ اِغْتَسِلِي” فَكَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ كُلَّ صَلَاةٍ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِم ٌ 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (334) (66).

    Narrated `A’ishah (RAA): Umm Habiba bint Jahsh complained to Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) about a prolonged flow of blood. He said to her, “Keep away (from prayer) as long as your normal period used to prevent you (from praying), and afterwards she should perform Ghusl (and pray)”. (She used to take a bath for every prayer). [Reported by Muslim.]

    وَفِي حَدِيثِ حُذَيْفَةَ عِنْدَ مُسْلِمٍ: { وَجُعِلَتْ تُرْبَتُهَا لَنَا طَهُورًا, إِذَا لَمْ نَجِدِ اَلْمَاءَ } 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (522)، وأوله: “فضلنا على الناس بثلاث: جعلت صفوفنا كصفوف الملائكة، وجعلت…” الحديث.

    In another narration by Hudhaifah (RAA): “And the soil of the earth had been made for us as a means with which to purify ourselves (for prayer), when we cannot find water.” Related by Muslim.

    وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ – رضى الله عنه – عِنْدَ أَحْمَدَ: { وَجُعِلَ اَلتُّرَابُ لِي طَهُورًا } 1 . 1 – حسن. رواه أحمد (763) وتمام لفظه: “أعطيت ما لم يعط أحد من الأنبياء” فقلنا: يا رسول الله! ما هو؟ قال: “نصرت بالرعب، وأعطيت مفاتيح الأرض، وسميت: أحمد، وجعل التراب لي طهورا، وجعلت أمتي خير الأمم”.

    Ahmad transmitted on the authority of `Ali (RAA): “The earth (dust) has been made for me as a means for purification.”

    وَعَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { بَعَثَنِي اَلنَّبِيُّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -فِي حَاجَةٍ, فَأَجْنَبْتُ, فَلَمْ أَجِدِ اَلْمَاءَ, فَتَمَرَّغْتُ فِي اَلصَّعِيدِ كَمَا تَمَرَّغُ اَلدَّابَّةُ, ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ اَلنَّبِيَّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ, فَقَالَ: “إِنَّمَا كَانَ يَكْفِيكَ أَنْ تَقُولَ بِيَدَيْكَ هَكَذَا” ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ بِيَدَيْهِ اَلْأَرْضَ ضَرْبَةً وَاحِدَةً, ثُمَّ مَسَحَ اَلشِّمَالَ عَلَى اَلْيَمِينِ, وَظَاهِرَ كَفَّيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُسْلِم ٍ 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه البخاري (347)، ومسلم (368).

    Narrated `Ammar bin Yasir (RAA): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) sent me on some errands and I became junub (sexually impure), and could not find water. I rolled myself in the dirt just as an animal does. I then came to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and mentioned that to him. He said, “This would have been enough for you,” and he struck the earth with his hands once, then he wiped the right hand with the left one, and the outside of the palms of his hands and his face. [Agreed upon. The wording is that of Muslim’s].

    وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ اَلْخُدْرِيِّ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمْ أَهْلَهُ, ثُمَّ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعُودَ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ بَيْنَهُمَا وُضُوءًا } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِم ٌ 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (308).

    Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (rad): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “If one of you has sexual intercourse with his wife and wishes to repeat he should perform ablution between them” [Reported by Muslim].
