    وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: { رَأَيْتُ اَلنَّبِيَّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -يُصَلِّي مُتَرَبِّعًا } رَوَاهُ النَّسَائِيُّ. وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلْحَاكِمُ.

    Narrated ‘Aishah (RA): I saw the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) praying while sitted in a cross-legged position. [Reported by an-Nasa’i; and al-Hakim graded it Sahih (authentic)].

    عَنْ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ, وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ, { أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَقُولُ -عَلَى أَعْوَادِ مِنْبَرِهِ- “لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ عَنْ وَدْعِهِمُ اَلْجُمُعَاتِ, أَوْ لَيَخْتِمَنَّ اَللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ, ثُمَّ لَيَكُونُنَّ مِنَ اَلْغَافِلِينَ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ . 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (865). ومعنى ودعهم: تركهم.

    Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar and Abu Hurairah (RA): They heard Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) say (while standing) upon the planks of his pulpit: “People must cease to neglect the Friday prayers, or else Allah will seal their hearts and then they will be among the unmindful.” [Reported by Muslim].

    وَعَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ اَلْأَكْوَعِ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ: { كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -اَلْجُمُعَةَ, ثُمَّ نَنْصَرِفُ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحِيطَانِ ظِلٌّ نَسْتَظِلُّ بِهِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, وَاللَّفْظُ لِلْبُخَارِيّ ِ 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه البخاري (4168)، ومسلم (860).

    Narrated Salmah bin Al-Akwa’ (RA): We used to offer the Friday prayer with Allah’s Messenger (RA) and return (to our homes) while the walls had no shade for us to go under (at that time). [Agreed upon. This is the wording of al-Bukhari].

    وَفِي لَفْظٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ: { كُنَّا نَجْمَعُ مَعَهُ إِذَا زَالَتِ اَلشَّمْسُ, ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ, نَتَتَبَّعُ اَلْفَيْءَ } 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (860) (31).

    And in a narration of Muslim: “We used to offer the Friday prayers with him [Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)] when the sun passed the meridian. We would then return and try to find the afternoon shadow.

    وَعَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { مَا كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَلَا نَتَغَدَّى إِلَّا بَعْدَ اَلْجُمُعَةِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُسْلِمٍ . 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه البخاري (939)، ومسلم (859). “تنبيه”: لا فائدة من قول الحافظ “واللفظ لمسلم” إذ هو عند البخاري أيضا بنفس اللفظ، بل وفي غير موطن، منها الموطن المذكور.

    Narrated Sahl bin Sa’d (RA): We would not have a siesta (mid-day nap) nor lunch till after the Friday prayer. [Agreed upon; and the wording is Muslim’s].

    وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: { فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -. } 1 . 1 – وهي رواية علي بن حجر عند مسلم (859).

    Another narration has: “during the life time of Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

    وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ { أَنَّ اَلنَّبِيَّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا, فَجَاءَتْ عِيرٌ مِنَ اَلشَّامِ, فَانْفَتَلَ اَلنَّاسُ إِلَيْهَا, حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ . 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (863). “تنبيه”: الحديث أيضا عند البخاري (936)، فكان حقه أن يقول: متفق عليه، واللفظ لمسلم. ومعنى انفتل: انصرف.

    Narrated Jabir (RA): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was standing while delivering the Khutbah (religious talk, sermon) on Friday when a caravan from Syria arrived. The people flocked towards it till no one was left [with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)] except twelve men. [Reported by Muslim].

    وَعَنْ مُعَاذٍ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ: { خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ، فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي اَلظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ جَمِيعًا, وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ جَمِيعًا } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ . 1 . 1 – صحيح. رواه مسلم (706) وزاد: “قال: فقلت: ما حمله على ذلك؟ قال: فقال: أراد أن لا يحرج أمته”.

    Narrated Mu’adh bin Jabal (RA): We went out with Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) on the Tabuk expedition, and he would offer Zuhr and ‘Asr prayers together and Magbrib and ‘Isha’ prayers together. [Reported by Muslim].

    وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -: { لَا تَقْصُرُوا اَلصَّلَاةَ فِي أَقَلَّ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةِ بُرُدٍ; مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى عُسْفَانَ } رَوَاهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ بِإِسْنَادٍ ضَعِيف ٍ 1 وَالصَّحِيحُ أَنَّهُ مَوْقُوفٌ، كَذَا أَخْرَجَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ. 1 – ضعيف جدا. رواه الدارقطني (1/387) وفي سنده أحد المتروكين، وفيه علة أخرى أيضا.

    Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas (RA): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Do not shorten the prayer (while travelling) for a distance of less than four Burud; from Makkah to ‘Usfan.” [ad-Daraqutni reported it through a weak chain of narrators, and the right opinion is that it is Mawquf (saying of a companion, i.e. Ibn ‘Abbas). Ibn Khuzaima reported it as such]. Burud: Plural of Barid, which means three Farsakh, and one Farsakh is equal to three miles.

    وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ – رضى الله عنه – قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي اَلَّذِينَ إِذَا أَسَاءُوا اِسْتَغْفَرُوا, وَإِذَا سَافَرُوا قَصَرُوا وَأَفْطَرُوا } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي “اَلْأَوْسَطِ” بِإِسْنَادٍ ضَعِيفٍ . 1 . 1 – ضعيف. رواه الطبراني في: “الأوسط”. كما في “مجمع البحرين” (921) من طريق ابن لهيعة، عن أبي الزبير، عن جابر، به. وقال: لم يروه عن أبي الزبير، إلا ابن لهيعة. وقال الهيثمي في “المجمع” (2/157): “فيه ابن لهيعة، وفيه كلام”. قلت: بل هو ضعيف، وأيضا أبو الزبير مدلس، وقد عنعنه.

    Narrated Jabir (RA): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “The best of my followers are those who, having done evil, ask for forgiveness (from Allah); and when on a journey, shorten (the prayer) and break the fast.” [at-Tabarani reported it in al-‘Awsat through a weak chain of narrators].
